Our Approach to Care — We’re Here to Help You Heal
If you’ve been dealing with symptoms like persistent pain, pins and needles sensation, or unexplained inflammation for longer than three months, it’s time to consult with a pain management specialist. While there may not be a cure for chronic pain, there are options available for treating and managing the pain for long-term relief.
We recognize that it can be stressful to share a lot of information in a short amount of time with your doctor, so knowing what to expect and being prepared can help you make the most of your visit. Our comprehensive approach ensures that you receive clear answers and compassionate care every step of the way!
🩺 Consultation & Evaluation
From check-in to your consultation, you can expect your first visit to last about an hour, so it’s a good idea to allow for more time than you would for a standard primary care appointment. Our pain management provider will begin the visit with a thorough physical examination, followed by an in-depth discussion of your health history and any symptoms you’re experiencing.
🔬 Testing & Diagnosis
At San Antonio Specialty Health & Sports Medicine, we focus on a thorough approach to your health. Your doctor may order lab tests, including urine, blood, or joint fluid tests, to assess factors, antibodies, and genetic markers related to your condition or symptoms. These tests, along with imaging tests, help us understand your health better.
Keep in mind that pinpointing the source of your chronic pain may take some time. In many cases, we may start symptomatic treatment before the source of the problem is found.
💊 Personalized Treatment Plans
We provide targeted injections, nerve blocks, manual medicine, and more. We will create a treatment plan that meets your specific needs. This plan may include medications, physical therapy, and important lifestyle changes such as adjusting your diet and managing your weight through exercise.
🤝 Ongoing Support
Some chronic pain conditions can be life-long, but you are not alone in this journey. We are committed to providing you with ongoing support and offering follow-up appointments as needed.
